Bob and Becky Dunbar founded the Dunbar Family Foundation with a focus on giving back to the community that they called home. We are committed to enrich the lives of the people in the Chesterton and Duneland communities through financial support for education opportunities, community improvements, and human services.
As a local banker and citizen, Bob served on various business organizations including the Portage and Duneland Chambers of Commerce, Northwest Indiana Forum, and the Conference of State Bank. Bob devoted his time to the Chesterton Little League, United Way of Porter County, Porter County VNA, the Pine Village Board, the Porter Memorial Hospital Association, and Rotary International where he served as the local chapter president. In 1992, Bob was awarded the Sagamore of the Wabash, the highest award bestowed by the Governor for his extensive public service to Indiana.
Becky raised three children and worked for the Duneland School Corporation for over 20 years. Her community service included work with Tri Kappa sorority, Chesterton Women’s Club, the Chesterton Food Pantry, Meals on Wheels, Porter County Tourism Board, Chesterton Chamber of Commerce, and the Duneland Resale Shop. Becky is a Paul Harris Fellow awardee and inducted into the Chesterton Alumni Association Hall of Fame.
